Key Club
Key Club is a student-led service club. The motto for all Key Clubs is "Caring -- Our Way of Life." Students select the service projects that interest them, organize them, and carry them out. Each club has a faculty advisor (Ted Seche) and a Kiwanis Advisor (Tricia Shindledecker) to assist with logistics and planning. The Club elects its own officers each year. Club members often become deeply committed to the service aspects of the club, volunteering anywhere from 30 to 130 hours of service during the year.
During the 2014-2015 year, one member received recognition as Member of the Year for the California-Nevada-Hawaii District for her outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to the club and the local Key Club Division. Another member prepared a written report about the Montgomery Key Club's varied fundraising efforts in support of eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. That report, combined with the efforts of the Club, received recognition as the Outstanding Major Emphasis Project for the California-Nevada-Hawaii District.
The Club received recognition at the 2015, 2016, and 2017 International Conventions as a Diamond Distinguished Club for its outstanding achievements and service. That recognition is granted to less than 5% of Key Clubs internationally! Key Club has just as many exciting projects in the works for the upcoming school year!
